Maryland women's basketball will begin the Women's NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed in the Lexington Region. The Terps are looking to reach their third straight Final Four, and begin their quest against No. 15 seed Iona at 1:30 this Saturday at Xfinity Center.
Notre Dame is the top seed in the region. Should the two teams meet, it will be next weekend in Lexington. But first, the Terps will have to get past the Iona Gaels. A win will net them either No. 7 Washington or No. 10 Pennsylvania.
Other teams in the region include Kentucky (who the Terps could play on the Wildcats' home floor), Oklahoma, Purdue and Miami.
UConn is the No. 1 overall seed, and the Terps will likely have to go through the three-time defending champions if they want to win their second national championship. Maryland (30-3, 16-2 Big Ten) is coming off its second straight Big Ten Tournament title.
