Maryland women's basketball profiles in Terpage: Brionna Jones

A veteran post presence should help Maryland this year.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Brionna Jones, junior, center, No. 42

Height: 6'3"

Twitter: @iheartb_ball18

High School: Aberdeen

Hometown: Havre de Grace, Md.

How'd She Get to College Park?

Brionna was the 7th-ranked post player in the Class of 2013 (55th overall) and chose Maryland over schools such as South Carolina and Virginia because the coaches and players made her feel like she could help them accomplish great things, she said.

Career Highlight

Slapped up 24 points, 14 boards and 6 blocks against Illinois this past January. She was later named First Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and Second Team by the press.

Dream Season

Jones unleashes holy hell in the post all year. She leads the team in points, rebounds and blocks, while also mentoring freshmen Kiah Gillespie and Brianna Fraser.

2015-16 Prospectus

If you've been reading all of these profiles, you'll probably have picked up on the depth in this team's frontcourt. As of right now, Jones and senior Malina Howard are the anchors of that rotation. After starting 14 games as a freshman, Brionna started 36 games last year and led the team in rebounding and blocks. If she makes another leap forward this year, look out.

The next player is a transfer, and the only one left.
