Maryland women's basketball profiles in Terpage: Brianna Fraser

One of two five-star freshman forwards could make a big impact for Brenda Frese's Terps.

How'd She Get to College Park?

Brianna was ESPN's 15th-ranked player in the Class of 2015, and in her senior season at South Side, she led the team to a City Championship. During the season, she broke the NYS Federation scoring record with 46 points. She was also a four-year volleyball star with Division I offers, but knew she wanted to play basketball at Maryland as soon as she saw the campus. She committed before her junior season began.

Dream Season

Fraser breaks out as a superstar immediately, forcing head coach Brenda Frese to give her big minutes in a loaded post rotation.

2015-16 Prospectus

With Fraser, fellow five-star freshman Kiah Gillespie, junior Brionna Jones and seniors Malina Howard and Tierney Pfirman, the Terps' frontcourt will be deep this year. However, we probably won't ever see more than three of them on the court at once, and that's if Frese goes big.

There's no doubting Fraser's talent: she led the team with 11 rebounds in just 21 minutes in last week's scrimmage against IUP. She's unlikely to be a cornerstone right away, but she can definitely play her way into such a position.

This player's brother plays also college basketball in the state.
