Two former Maryland players will be on the world's biggest stage on Sunday, as Vernon Davis and Darius Kilgo of the Denver Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Super Bowl 50 kicks off on Sunday, pairing the AFC champion Denver Broncos against the NFC champion Carolina Panthers. From a Maryland perspective, two former Terps will be taking part in today's game: tight end Vernon Davis and nose tackle Darius Kilgo.

Davis joined the Broncos on November 2nd when the San Francisco 49ers traded the former Maryland star to Denver. This will be Davis' second Super Bowl appearance after playing in Super Bowl XLVII, when his 49ers lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31.

Kilgo was selected by Denver in the 6th round (203 overall) of the 2015 NFL draft. He played in just nine games for the Broncos this season, recording six tackles and defending against a pass.

Both Davis and Kilgo are certainly enjoying the Super Bowl experience.

If the Carolina Panthers win, Maryland fans should still be excited because their star quarterback, Cam Newton, is an Under Armour client. If the Panthers won, that would give the company founded by former Maryland football player Kevin Plank a Super Bowl champion quarterback, NBA MVP and champion in Stephen Curry, and one of the best golfers in the world in Jordan Spieth.
