Football season is almost, almost here.

Sung-Min Kim/Testudo Times

Fans who want to watch DJ Durkin coaching the Maryland football team will get their first chance on April 16, when the Terps will hold their annual spring game at Maryland Stadium.

Admission and parking will both be free, and it could be an interesting afternoon. The game kicks off at 12:30 p.m., and it'll be the first opportunity not just to watch Durkin and his staff coach, but also to see early enrollees like running back Jake Funk, cornerback Antwaine Richardson and punter Wade Lees (for the special teams buffs among us.)

Maryland passed along some logistical details in a press release, which I've clipped here:

Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium Access: Gate F (West side) and Gate I (South side) will be open at 11 a.m. Concession stands will be open on the South side of the stadium (Tyser Tower side of Byrd). Click here for directions to Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. Parking and admission are free.

Select-A-Seat Event: Starting at 11 a.m. fans will have an opportunity to select seats in our premium Mezzanine section as well as seating areas in the bowl for the 2016 season which features six home games. A variety of season-ticket options are available starting as low as $160. Available seats to purchase as season tickets will be marked throughout the stadium. Click here to view ticket information.

Fan Fest & Giveaways:

- The first 5,000 fans will receive an exclusive spring game poster.

- A post-game fan fest will be held on the west concourse, including an autograph session with head coach DJ Durkin and the football team, inflatable and lawn games, a photo booth and more!

Parking: Free parking available in Lot Z/1, while paid parking is available in the Stadium Drive Garage (SDG) and Union Lane Garage (ULG).  Guests with disabilities who have an accessible placard may park in Stadium Drive Garage (SDG) free of charge.

Bag Policy: Maryland Athletics is announcing a new bag policy that will be in affect for the Spring Football game and will be in place throughout the 2016 Football Season. Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bag into the stadium.

*Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"

*One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)

*Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags.

All other bags will not be permitted. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. The University of Maryland cannot safeguard items which are not permitted into the stadium.

So, be careful about bags at Maryland games next season.

The Terps haven't yet announced their spring practice schedule, although Durkin told us last week that Maryland's earliest possible practice date was March 8.
