A hot assistant coaching prospect is off the board, per a report.

Auburn defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson will take the defensive coordinator position at South Carolina, following new Auburn head coach Will Muschamp to Columbia, according to a report from 247Sports' JC Shurburtt.

Robinson was a serious candidate to take the Maryland defensive coordinator position under new head coach DJ Durkin, who worked above Robinson on Muschamp's Florida staff two seasons ago. SB Nation's Steven Godfrey reported earlier that Maryland was interested in adding Robinson to work for Durkin again.

There are a handful of other coaches with Durkin connections whom the new coach might want as a defensive coordinator. UNLV defensive coordinator Kent Baer worked above Durkin on Tyrone Willingham's Notre Dame staff in the early 2000s, and Durkin brought current Michigan secondary coach Jim Zordich to Ann Arbor last year to coach defensive backs for a Durkin-coordinated Michigan defense.

Florida State defensive ends and outside linebackers coach Brad Lawing also worked under Durkin and Muschamp at Florida. Other names to watch for Durkin's defensive staff include recently stepped-down Virginia head coach Mike London and current Maryland coordinator Keith Dudzinski and defensive line coach Chad Wilt.
