Maryland football's Will Likely named first-team FWAA All-American

Another postseason honor for Maryland's junior cornerback and return man.

Will Likely keeps adding on. After being named a second-team All-American as a return man by USA Today, the Maryland junior on Monday was named a first-teamer by the Football Writers Association of America.

He stands just 5'7, but Likely has managed to dominate in spurts on both special teams and defense. His returning philosophy – "When you see green, get green." – served him exceptionally well in the 2015 season. He had 1,197 kickoff return yards, the highest total in the country, and set a Big Ten single-game record as a punt returner with 233 yards on those run-backs against Richmond in Maryland's season opener.

Likely managed 3 touchdowns on returns this season, two coming on kickoffs and another on a punt in that season-opening game. He was a threat all season, and he impressively continued to torment opponents on special teams even after he started taking regular snaps with Maryland's offense.

From an endurance and raw performance standpoint, the Terrapins have had few players quite like Likely.
