Andrew Park, a tight end from Burke, Va., announced Thursday evening that he's committed to play his college football at Maryland. Park is the first pledge in Maryland's 2017 recruiting class.

Park is unrated on the 247Sports Composite, and he has one other listed Power 5 offer, from Pitt.
He's listed at 6'5 and 231 pounds, and he plays in high school at Lake Braddock. According to 247 (linked above), Park got a Maryland offer on Feb. 23, visited College Park on Thursday and committed after or during the visit.
Tight end is a position of decent strength for Maryland, but it's still important for the Terps to add talent at the position. It'll be instructive to see how Park rates as the year goes on, when it's likely scouting agencies will take a closer look at him.
