The three-star linebacker wasn't ranked by 247Sports Composite when he announced his verbal commitment to Maryland on Monday, but he is now. The Buford High School product is the No. 67 outside linebacker in the class of 2016 and the No. 97 player in Georgia, according to the latest version of the composite.
He'll join a linebacker corps that was injured this past season, but should be stacked with veterans in 2016. Beyond then, Shepherd could be expected to contribute as soon as his second year with the program. He stands 6'4 and 215 pounds, so he'll likely have to bulk up a little in order to see playing time. Shepherd is the only player in Maryland's class who hails from Georgia. He also had offers from Mississippi State, Missouri, Iowa and North Carolina, among other schools.
