Florida three-star defensive backs Elisha and Elijah Daniels officially signed with the Maryland football program on Wednesday, solidifying the dual commitments they made in January.
Daniels and Daniels are twin brothers from Fort Lauderdale. On the 247Sports Composite, Elisha is rated the No. 121 cornerback and the No. 186 player in Florida in the 2016 class. Elijah is the No. 62 and No. 126 overall player in Florida.
Given the state from which they hail, the Daniels twins are particularly interesting commits. Maryland has had some recent success recruiting defensive backs in Florida, with cornerback Will Likely (class of 2013) emerging as a star and cornerback Denzel Conyers (2014) looking more and more like an interesting prospect. Florida overflows with athleticism, and the state has produced too many elite defensive backs to count.
Elijah should have a quick opportunity to make an impact. He might redshirt or might not, but either way, Maryland has zero games of current starting experience at safety on its roster and no four- or five-star recruits in the pipeline. Elisha is very likely to redshirt, as the Terps could have 10 or more cornerbacks on their roster next season.
