Three-star Florida running back LaDerrien Wilson committed to Maryland on Wednesday, giving DJ Durkin his first Florida commit as Maryland's head coach. It's a geographic area he figures to prioritize going forward.

Wilson is rated on the 247Sports Composite as the No. 74 running back in the 2016 class and the No. 147 player in Florida. According to 247, his primary recruiter at Maryland was new receivers coach Chris Beatty.

Wilson's commitment is a nice change of pace for Maryland, which had to contend this week with the loss to Ohio State of two four-star prospects: quarterback Dwayne Haskins and linebacker Keandre Jones. He gives the Terps a jolt at a position of need, too, as Maryland was – and, in reality, remains – thin at running back behind rising sophomore Ty Johnson.

Wilson is a senior at Osceola, from Kissimmee, Fla. Here's some tape:

We'll have a lot more on Wilson on Thursday.
