Maryland basketball faces a tough conference test against Northwestern Saturday night. After needing a record-breaking effort from Diamond Stone to get past Penn State on Wednesday, the Terps will face a superior Wildcats team at its home court in Evanston, Illinois.
Northwestern will be playing without 7'0 center Alex Olah, who is out indefinitely with a foot injury. Olah leads the team in rebounds with 6.5 per game, and his 12.8 points per game is fourth on the squad. In the absence of their best big man, Northwestern decided to burn freshman Dererk Pardon's redshirt. In his first taste of Big Ten action, he dropped 28 points and hauled in 12 rebounds against Nebraska on Thursday. That wasn't quite equal to Stone's 39-point burst, but Pardon could potentially be a big problem for Maryland down low.
