Maryland basketball vs. Southern New Hampshire: Game time, live radio streaming and more

A fresh start to the season for Maryland basketball. Discuss it here.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Maryland basketball will play its first and only exhibition game Friday night at 7:30 against the Southern New Hampshire Penmen. It can be streamed on BTN Plus.

The No. 3 Terrapins get their first crack at figuring out rotations and showing off new talent in the comfort of their home at Xfinity Center, facing a Division II opponent.

The Penmen held an impressive 24-8 record last season, losing to Florida Southern in the Division II Elite Eight, but they didn't play against any notable opponents.

The game was scheduled mostly because of assistant coach Bino Ranson's affiliation with the school. Ranson played four years at SNHU and finished as one of the best players in school history. He finished seventh all-time in career points with 1,899, fifth in assists with 598 and fourth in 3-point field goals made with 226. He was inducted into the school's hall of fame in 2007. He's gained recent popularity among fans as he's been credited for landing five-star recruit Diamond Stone, who's set to make his heavily anticipated College Park debut.

The goals for Maryland should be simple. Getting four new rotation players acclimated to their environment is key. Turgeon will have some comfort in experimenting with as many lineups as possible as the Terrapins should have no problems against a D-2 school that has no players taller than 6'8.
