After the Buzzer: Maryland basketball and its fans both win big vs. Georgetown

The postmortem on Maryland's win – with a "cameo" from ESPN's Scott Van Pelt.

That was some kind of night at Xfinity Center.

The Maryland men's basketball team beat Georgetown in one of the best games any of us have seen in a while, and the place was absolutely bonkers for most of the night. It stayed that way long after the final buzzer, as dozens of Maryland students stuck around the building to meet Scott Van Pelt and watch him shoot an episode of SportsCenter, live from College Park.

Van Pelt makes a cameo – sort of, kind of – in this game's version of After the Buzzer: Also on the agenda for Alex and me: Maryland's versatile guard play, how the Terps stuck around against the Hoyas despite Jake Layman and Melo Trimble struggling early and also, of course, just how much fun this game was to watch up close.

The Terrapins are 2-0 ahead of a game Friday night against Rider. We'll see you then.
