Aaron Wiggins commits to Maryland basketball: Terps land 4-star SG

Mark Turgeon's 2018 class has its first commit.

After missing out on a couple top targets at the start of the 2018 recruiting cycle, Mark Turgeon and the Terps are finally on the board.

Four-star shooting guard Aaron Wiggins committed to Maryland Saturday, following his official visit to College Park.

Wiggins is the No. 62 overall prospect in the Class of 2018 and is listed as the No. 18 small forward, per the 247Sports Composite, though he projects as a shooting guard in college. In that case, he’d be the No. 10 shooting guard in the class. He’s also the No. 5 prospect in North Carolina, where he’s coached by former Terps guard Keith Gatlin at Wesleyan Christian.

Wiggins becomes Maryland’s first 2018 commit, after the Terps missed out on shooting guards Brandon Slater and Prentiss Hubb in successive weeks. Maryland recently made five-star point guard Immanuel Quickley’s top four, and now that Wiggins has broken the seal, Maryland might get the ball rolling.
