The Terps could be days away from adding a point guard for the future.

Maryland basketball is looking to stockpile its 2018 recruiting class with blue-chip prospects, and while plenty is still up in the air, some answers should come this weekend.

Devon Dotson, the No. 24 player and No. 6 point guard in the 247Sports Composite rankings, will announce his commitment Friday evening. Reports indicate he’s down to Maryland and Kansas, both of whom visited the Charlotte native Wednesday.

One day later, it’ll be four-star point guard Eric Ayala.

Dotson, Ayala and five-star shooting guard Keldon Johnson were all on campus for official visits at the end of September. Ayala, the No. 76 overall prospect on the Composite, scheduled a visit to Oregon last weekend but didn’t make the trip to Eugene.

Neither one is necessarily a lock to the Terps, and it’d be a surprise if they both chose Maryland. But given the timing of these announcements, Mark Turgeon is in good shape to add at least one floor general to his 2018 haul.
