Maryland basketball offered possibly the best recruit in the 2020 class

This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland offered high school freshman recruit Isaiah Todd before the Terps’ win over Indiana Tuesday night. Todd, who’s all of 15 years old, was visiting the school for the game.

The Virginia recruit “will likely debut as a five-star prospect when 247Sports releases its initial 2020 rankings later this year,” according to Josh Stirn of InsideMDSports.

It might seem awfully early to be paying attention to such a young player, but this is the life of a top recruit. Teams like Maryland have to get in early. That’s the only way they’ll secure a recruit like this. And getting in early still doesn’t even close to guarantee anything.
