Delaware point guard Kory Holden, perhaps college basketball's best available transfer player, said Wednesday he hasn't narrowed down a list of schools and is still considering Maryland, among others.
Scout reported earlier in the day that Holden had a top five of Miami, South Carolina, Arizona, LaSalle and Virginia Tech. We shared that report, but Holden wrote us shortly thereafter to say he doesn't have a top five and that the report we'd shared – from what's typically a reliable outlet – didn't come from him.
Holden confirmed an earlier ESPN report that Maryland has been recruiting him.
Holden is "looking at everyone," he said, but will "continue to hear Maryland out."
In a list released on Wednesday, ESPN's Jeff Borzello and Jeff Goodman rate Holden as the No. 1 available transfer in the country this offseason. In two seasons at Delaware, Holden emerged as a strong lead guard for a program that hasn't had any success at all. He led the Blue Hens last year with 17.7 points per game.
