The Maryland men's basketball team is on the final list of four programs for five-star 2017 forward Billy Preston, along with Kansas, Arizona and USC.

The Terps were previously one of 13 teams to make Preston's cut, and now nine more have left the island. Kentucky and Texas are among the schools Preston is no longer considering.
Preston is a 6'10, 230-pound high school junior. He reportedly visited Maryland in December, along with five-star teammate and top-rated point guard Trevon Duval. Both prospects currently play at Advanced Preparatory International in Dallas. Preston had previously played for something called "Prime Prep Academy," so he's certainly prepared.
Maryland has a dearth of forward depth right now and no obvious replacement for either Robert Carter Jr. or Jake Layman once both are gone. Preston would be a terrific option to take over Carter's power forward job, although he won't be in college for another full season. Highlights of Preston's game are below:
