Maryland basketball now officially has two members in its 2017 recruiting class, as Baltimore guard Darryl Morsell has signed his National Letter of Intent.

He joins center Bruno Fernando, who signed his letter on Wednesday. The school officially announced both signings in a release.

Morsell verbally committed to Maryland on Nov. 2, and this makes his commitment binding.

“Any time a program signs two top-60 prospects, it’s a big deal,” Evan Daniels, Director Basketball Recruiting at Scout.com and Fox College Basketball Insider, said in the release. “Mark Turgeon and his staff worked hard to address very specific needs for their future roster. Both players can help Maryland sustain the high level of success it has become accustomed to.”

While neither of these players may end up as Melo Trimble-level recruits, they continue Turgeon’s strong recruiting run at Maryland.

Morsell is the No. 3 recruit in Maryland and the No. 5 combo guard in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. Fernando is the No. 5 player in Florida and the No. 6 center in the class.
