Maryland women’s golf’s Virunpat Olankitkunchai earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association on Friday. This marks the first time Olankitkunchai received the honor and it is the first time in program history a Terp has earned this honor.
The No. 23 ranked senior helped lead her team to its first appearance as a team in the NCAA Championships thanks to her scoring average of 71.64, the lowest in Maryland’s history. Olankitkunchai’s performance helped elevate the program to finish second in the Big Ten standings and nationally rank at No. 20.
This season, Olankitkunchai’s performance earned her a spot on the Arnold Palmer Cup International Team once again breaking records for Maryland as she was the first Terp selected in program history. The senior also earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team.
