MM 3.24: Several Maryland athletes earn Big Ten weekly honors

This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland players on the women’s lacrosse, men’s lacrosse and men’s soccer teams were awarded Big Ten Weekly Honors.

Senior midfielder Grace Griffin was named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week and redshirt senior defender Lizzie Colson was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. The honors come after two dominant wins over Ohio State this past weekend.

Men’s lacrosse junior defender John Geppert and freshman attacker Eric Malever were named to the Big Ten Team of the Week. Geppert was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after helping hold Ohio State to a season-low eight goals in their matchup this past weekend. Malever received Big Ten Freshman of the Week for a second consecutive week after scoring a career-high two goals in their 16-8 win over Ohio State.

Maryland men’s soccer senior forward Paul Bin was awarded Offensive Player of the Week after scoring both of Maryland’s goals in its 2-1 victory against Michigan State.
