MM 2.25: Maryland women’s golf climbs to No. 14 ranking

Maryland women’s golf has continued its hot start to the 2021 season, climbing to No. 14 in the latest GolfStat Top 25.

The Terps finished tied for third at the 14-team Gator Invitational, scoring a 23-over 863 (291, 282, 290) during three rounds of play. The team averaged under par on par 5s (4.98) and tied for the most birdies in the event (35).

Senior Viruntpat Olankitkunchai tied for second on individual play after finishing 2-under with a score of 208 (70, 68, 70). Graduate senior Xiaolin Tian finished 14th overall with a 6-over score of 216 (73, 71, 72).

The team will play in the Briar’s Creek Invitational in South Carolina on March 15-16.

Maryland is the highest ranking Big Ten team in the GolfStat top 25. The only other Big Ten team in the top 25 is Northwestern, ranked 17th.
