Following undefeated starts from both teams, multiple members of the Maryland men’s and women’s lacrosse teams have been named to watchlists for the 2020 Tewaaraton Award.
No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse boasted four players on the initial watchlist, including the senior trio of Meghan Doherty, Brindi Griffin, and Kali Hartshorn. Junior Grace Griffin also made the cut.
The Terps’ four players selected are tied for the most in the country with North Carolina. If one of the four Terps win the 2020 Tewaaraton, it will be an NCAA-best 10th time a Maryland player has earned the title.
No. 4 Maryland men’s lacrosse had Bubba Fairman, Logan Wisnauskas and Jared Bernhardt representing College Park on the list.
Bernhardt was a finalist for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award in following a career season as a junior. Fairman — a preseason All-American and All-Big Ten selection by Inside Lacrosse prior to his junior season — also made the list after an impressive postseason performance last year. He’s got two goals and five assists through two games. Wisnauskas currently leads the Terps in goals scored (9) and points (14) through the first two games of the season.
