Terp of the Week: Maryland's Jen Giles, Taylor Cummings and Mike Shawaryn all turn in strong performances

Who had the best week in Maryland athletics? You decide!

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

Almost 12,000 of you voted last week, and men's lacrosse's Colin Heacock edged out Arnelle Sullivan and Mike Shawaryn for Terp of the Week honors. Shawaryn is back in the poll after toppling a school record, but will he be able to beat out the other performances from across Maryland athletics this week?

Our contestants in this week's Testudo Times Terp of the Week poll are: women's lacrosse's Jen Giles, Taylor Cummings and Caroline Steele, men's lacrosse's Bryan Cole and Kyle Bernlohr and baseball's Mike Shawaryn and Kevin Smith.

Jen Giles, Women's Lacrosse -

Giles' goal with 3:07 left to play to make it 10-8 would hold up as the game-winner against No. 13 Penn State.

Taylor Cummings, Women's Lacrosse -

Cummings had nine draw controls --the same as Penn State had as a team--and added two goals, an assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Caroline Steele, Women's Lacrosse -

Steele had a first-half hat trick against No. 13 Penn State, helping Maryland win the outright Big Ten title.

Bryan Cole, Men's Lacrosse -

Cole led Maryland to an 11-8 win over No. 8 Johns Hopkins with a goal and three assists.

Kyle Bernlohr, Men's Lacrosse -

Bernlohr made three of his seven saves in the fourth quarter, helping Maryland win the outright Big Ten title.

Mike Shawaryn, Baseball -

Shawaryn threw a complete game four-hitter and broke the Maryland all-time strikeouts record against Penn State.

Kevin Smith, Baseball -

Smith's seven RBI game in a win against James Madison was the most by a Maryland player since May of 2009.
