Despite losing to Penn State in the Big Ten Championship game earlier today, Maryland got a bit of redemption on Sunday night.
The bracket for the NCAA Tournament was unveiled at 10 p.m., and the Terps were awarded the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament.
This is well-deserved for a Maryland team that won the Big Ten regular season title, finished with a 17-4 record, and defeated national powerhouses like Connecticut, Virginia and Penn State in the regular season.
Duke was awarded the tournament’s No. 1 seed. Maryland’s only shot at the Blue Devils would have to come in the NCAA Championship game. Syracuse is the No. 3 seed, while Penn State is No. 4.
The Terps will play the winner of Monmouth/Massachusetts in College Park next Saturday at 11:30 a.m. If they win, they’ll take on the winner of North Carolina-Stanford in the quarterfinals.
