Marylan field hockey’s Welma Luus, Grace Balsdon and Lein Holsboer all received Big Ten awards on Wednesday.
Luus was named the Big Ten Player of the Year, leading the Terps with 14 goals and racking up 32 points overall. She was also named a second team All-American by the NFHCA.
Balsdon was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. She was second on the Terps with 12 goals, tallied 5 assists and was the backbone of a Maryland defense that limited opponents to 1.71 goals per game and 60 penalty corners.
Holsboer was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team after she set a career high this season with eleven assists.
Each player has been a key cog on a Maryland team that finished the season as the No. 3 team in the nation. The Terps start Big Ten Tournament play with a 3 p.m. tilt against Rutgers in College Park.
