Maryland women’s basketball officially released its 2021-22 nonconference slate on Friday.
The Terps will kick off their season on Nov. 9 hosting Longwood and will then face Villanova three days later at Xfinity. Maryland then travels to Virginia to take on James Madison on Nov. 14 before hosting Mount St. Mary’s, UNC Wilmington and Baylor on Nov. 16, Nov. 18 and Nov. 21, respectively.
Baylor finished its season ranked No. 5 in the AP Top 25 Poll. The No. 2-seed Bears faced No. 1 seed UConn in the quarterfinals of the 2021 NCAA Tournament and fell, 69-67.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Terps will travel to the Bahamas to face NC State and Stanford in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship. Stanford finished the season ranked No. 2 while NC State finished at No. 3. Both squads were given the No. 1-seed for the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Stanford is the reigning National Champion and No. 4-seed Indiana eliminated NC State in the third round.
The Terps round out their nonconference slate against South Carolina, who finished at No. 6 in the AP Top 25, and Coppin State.
