Maryland women’s basketball guard Katie Benzan and forwards Mimi Collins, Faith Masonius and Angel Reese represented the Terps in the 2021 Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals.
Although the squad fell to fell to Force 10 in the championship game, 16-10, they had an impressive run going the furthest of any team made up of players currently in college. Force 10 is a professional 3x3 team that was made up of Cierra Burdick, Linnae Harper, Alix Peterson and Megan Huff. The four players on the Force 10 roster have WNBA experience and are all 25 years old and over.
The Terps started off the weekend losing to Oregon, 18-16, Force 10, 18-17 and Louisville 20-18. On Sunday, Benzan, Collins, Masonius and Reese bounded back in an exciting fashion. The Terps defeated top-seeded Legacy, 10-9, securing a spot in the semifinals.
Maryland went on to win its rematch with Oregon, 19-14, but ultimately lost the championship game to Force 10 finishing second in the final standings.
