With the Big Ten tournament right on the horizon, Maryland women’s basketball moved up to No. 6 in the latest AP Top 25 poll released Monday — the second-to-last ranking before the NCAA Tournament.
This comes after perfect week for the Terps, in which they beat Purdue at home Tuesday, 88-45, and Minnesota on the road Sunday, 99-44. Maryland also clinched a share of the Big Ten regular season title with its win in Minneapolis — its fourth in just five years since joining the conference.
There was even more good news for the Terps Monday, as freshman Ashley Owusu and senior Stephanie Jones each earned Big Ten weekly honors.

Owusu was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season after tallying eight points and 17 points against Purdue and Minnesota, respectively. Owusu also racked up nine assists against the Boilermakers.
Jones earned her second weekly honor in the last three weeks, being named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll. The senior shot 13-for-19 from the field over the week, including an 18-point, nine rebound effort against Purdue.
Up next for the Terps is the Big Ten tournament. While it officially begins Wednesday, Maryland’s first game is Friday and will be against the winner of Michigan State and Purdue.
