Two Maryland women’s basketball players, including a newcomer, received preseason honors on Wednesday.

Sophomore guard Ashley Owusu was named by the media to the All-Big Ten Preseason team. Owusu averaged 12 points and 5.4 assists as a freshman. Earlier this week, Owusu was one of 20 shooting guards named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List.

Freshman Angel Reese was also tabbed for a watch list, joining 19 other small forwards on the Cheryl Miller Award list. Reese comes in as the No. 2 prospect in the nation and the highest ranked recruit in Maryland’s history.

The Terrapins begin the season ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press preseason top-25 poll.
