Maryland women's basketball’s Kaila Charles racked up two prestigious honors Monday.
The senior guard was named both the ESPNw National Player of the Week and the Big Ten Player of the Week after leading the Terps with a season-high 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals in a win over No. 23 Michigan this past Saturday.
Charles was named a preseason All-American and expected to have a big year, and her most recent performance certainly showed she is capable of doing just that despite an uncharacteristic start.
With the win over the Wolverines, Charles moved up to No. 9 on Maryland’s all-time scoring list with 1,685 points, passing Christy Winters-Scott (1987-90).
