After being passed on by various NFL organizations, Maryland defensive back Tino Ellis has signed with the New Orleans Saints.
Ellis, who arrived to College Park as a wide receiver and transitioned to the other side of the ball, was widely regarded as Maryland’s best cornerbacks and one of the team’s most experienced defensive backs — along with Brooks — heading into the 2019 season.
He accounted for 13 tackles and two pass breakups in six starts during his senior campaign before suffering what head coach Mike Locksley classified as an “upper body injury” against Purdue Oct. 12, ending his season.
The DeMatha product completed his career as a Terp with 71 tackles, 22 pass breakups and one interception.
Ellis, who will likely be a backup to defensive back Marshon Lattimore, is rejoing his former Terps cornerbacks coach Cory Robinson, who joined the Saints organization in March.
