Maryland football faces Minnesota on Saturday, Sept. 22, in the Big Ten opener for both schools. It’s the second straight year these teams meet to start conference play, as the Terps stole a 31-24 victory in Minneapolis last year on the strength of a late-game Ty Johnson touchdown run.
The Terps are three-point favorites. You can find the latest updates on the spread and point total here.
This year’s game comes in the shadow of the release of Maryland’s investigation into the training practices and protocols that led to Jordan McNair’s death earlier this summer. The University System of Maryland’s Board of Regents will receive the findings from that report in its meeting on Friday, and the results are expected to be made public shortly after. Then, less than 24 hours later, the Terps will play a football game against a team that’s looked better than expected so far this season. What happens during and after that 24-hour stretch is anyone’s guess.
