Maryland football’s 2018 Big Ten opener now has a start time. The Terps will kick off conference play against Minnesota on Sept. 22 at noon ET, the school announced Monday.
It will be the third noon game of the season in four games for the Terps, with the only exception being last weekend’s runaway win over Bowling Green. Maryland is currently preparing for its noon home opener against Temple on Saturday.
The Terps are looking to move to stay undefeated against the Owls this weekend, after knocking off Texas (again) and Bowling Green. It will be the first game of the season at Maryland Stadium after the Terps beat then-No.23 Texas at FedEx Field and took down Bowling Green on the road.
The Gophers are also 2-0, with wins over New Mexico and Fresno State. Before coming to College Park, Minnesota will take on Miami (Ohio) at home. The Terps are 2-1 all-time against the Gophers, after a 31-24 win in last season’s conference opener.
Maryland’s matchup with Temple should coincide with the end of the Walter’s Inc. contract for its investigation into Jordan McNair’s death. The Terps also still face the possibility of entering conference season without a decision on head coach DJ Durkin, currently on leave with Matt Canada as interim head coach.
Maryland kicks off against Temple Sept. 15 at noon, airing on BTN. The Terps went 3-1 in noon starts last season.
