The Big Ten announced its football schedules for the 2022-25 seasons Wednesday afternoon. This means we’ve got four new years of Maryland schedules to look at.
This announcement means a continuation of the current division alignment (in which the East has been much more loaded than the West for years) and a nine-game league slate. Maryland will play five home games in 2022 and 2024 and five road games in 2023 and 2025.
The Terps open each of these conference seasons against either Michigan or Michigan State. They will close the regular season with Michigan State in 2022, Penn State in 2023 and Rutgers the following two seasons. Nine conference games also means three contests against Big Ten West opponents every year. Northwestern is the new annual opponent of the group; that role is currently held by Minnesota, whom the Terps will play every year through 2021.
There’s not much more to say about any of this; the landscape of the conference can change drastically in the next five years, so there’s little sense in evaluating these schedules based on programs’ current standing. But here are four fun lists for your enjoyment (and way-way-way-in-advance planning purposes).
