How to watch Maryland football vs. Rutgers

The Terps look to get back in the win column on Homecoming

Maryland football looks to get back in the win column against Rutgers after last week’s 42-21 loss to No. 12 Michigan.

Last week’s performance was mostly forgettable, with the offense silent until the fourth quarter and a defense that was worn out by the second half. Luckily for the Terps, Rutgers provides a “get right” opportunity for homecoming. The Scarlet Knights have the most futile scoring offense in college football, averaging just 16.5 points per game, while their defense has allowed 36.3 points per game, second-worst in the Big Ten.

Maryland and Rutgers have split their past four meetings, with the Scarlet Knights taking last year’s matchup 31-24 after the Terps’ late comeback attempt stalled in the last minute. A Maryland victory would be a nice momentum boost before next week’s tough road matchup against one-loss Iowa.

Of statistical note, Ty Johnson needs just 65 yards to become the fourth player in Maryland history to total at least 4,000 career all-purpose yards. He would join Torrey Smith, LaMont Jordan and Stefon Diggs by completing the feat.

The numbers

Maryland: 3-2 (1-1 Big Ten)

Rutgers: 1-5 (0-3 Big Ten)

All-time series: Maryland leads 7-6

Odds: Maryland is a 24.5-point favorite
