Big Ten Media Days are this week in Chicago. Testudo Times didn’t make the trip, but here’s what Maryland head coach DJ Durkin had to say to the assembled reporters.

Durkin faced a similar set of questions as he did during the spring; it’s been a relatively quiet time for the Terps since then. The roster has hardly changed, and the rigorous schedule hasn’t gotten easier or more difficult. But these media days are primarily a chance for Maryland, its positive direction and new facilities to gain more exposure across the region.
Earlier Monday, the team announced that phase one of the Cole Field House renovation is complete, with a dedication ceremony slated for next week. (We’ll be there.) Fall camp begins in August, and the season kicks off Saturday, Sept. 2 at Texas.
Here’s Durkin’s interview on the BTN desk later Monday afternoon. He had a little bit more to say about his 2017 team and personnel in this one.

Running back Ty Johnson, wide receiver D.J. Moore and linebacker Jermaine Carter Jr. were also on set Monday evening. Here’s their interview (in which Ty discusses his fidget spinner battle with BTN’s youngest reporter):
