Profiles in Terpage is back for 2017. Last week, we focused on the offensive line; this week, we’re flipping sides of the ball and looking at the defensive line.

B’Ahmad Miller, DL

Height: 6’3
Weight: 262 lbs.
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Newark, Delaware
High school: St. Frances Academy

How he got to College Park

Miller was a consensus three-star recruit out of St. Frances in Baltimore, and committed to the Terps on Oct. 2 over Temple and Pitt, among others. He was the No. 87 strong-side defensive end in the country and the No. 28 player Maryland in the Class of 2017, per the 247Sports Composite.

2017 prospectus

Miller was one of five defensive linemen to sign with Maryland in the Class of 2017, not including outside linebacker Bryce Brand, who may end up at BUCK for the Terps. That recruiting overhaul, combined with Maryland’s already-crowded defensive line, may make it difficult for Miller to see the field during his first year in College Park. That said, while there are a lot of bodies in the room, only the four starters have really separated themselves from the rest of the pack. DJ Durkin has shown a willingness to rotate many players into the same spots, which could work in Miller’s favor.

Dream season

Miller cracks the rotation in fall camp and earns playing time in non-conference play. He’s able to come in primarily on passing downs and focus on sacking the quarterback, eventually playing his way into a solid playing time as the season rolls on.
