Profiles in Terpage is back for 2017. Last week, we focused on running backs; this week, we’re looking at all of Maryland’s receivers.

Jacquille Veii, WR, No. 84

Height: 5’9
Weight: 185 pounds
Year: Senior
Hometown: Gaithersburg, Maryland
High school: The Avalon School

How he got to College Park

Veii was a three-star running back recruit out of high school, when he originally committed to Maryland. Veii was used out of the backfield for his freshman season, before transitioning to receiver his sophomore season.

He then transferred to Towson for his junior season and led the Tigers’ receiving corps with 44 catches for 505 yards in 2015. Veii then transferred back to College Park and sat out last season, per NCAA rules.

Career highlight

Here are Veii’s self published sophomore season highlights, the last year he was a Terp.

2017 prospectus

Coach D.J. Durkin made Veii earn his scholarship back, but his speed should give him an opportunity to contribute from the slot. Not a lot is set in stone at receiver, and Veii can push for looks. His time at Towson should benefit him, and it will probably be a matter of chemistry with whoever ends up taking snaps under center.

Dream season

Veii impresses through camp and, with a clearer view of his role, settles in as the top slot receiver in Walt Bell’s offense. He has a developed understanding of the offense after sitting, and gets an opportunity to showcase his versatility in his senior season.

Up next

This former three-star recruit produced sparingly for Maryland last season.

Scaletta, tnterp and pbritt are all on the board this week.
