Legend Brumbaugh turned down FCS offers to come to Maryland. Now what?

Profiles in Terpage finishes the run of quarterbacks with the newest addition to the group.

Student Sports

Profiles in Terpage is back for 2017, and this week, we’re looking at all of Maryland’s quarterbacks. This is the last addition to the group.

Legend Brumbaugh, QB, No. 15

Height: 6’3
Weight: 190 lbs.
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Jacksonville, Florida
High school: Trinity Christian Academy
Twitter: @1egend

How he got to College Park

Brumbaugh committed to FCS Tennessee-Martin in October, choosing the Skyhawks over offers from Howard and Jackson State. Maryland most likely went on his radar when father Jimmy Brumbaugh became the Terps’ defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator in February.

Eventually, Legend decided to walk on to the bigger stage, joining his dad in College Park.

2017 prospectus

Four of the players we wrote about this week will enter the season with more college experience than Brumbaugh, and all five were rated higher as prospects. It’s certainly possible the 6’3 freshman fills out his frame and works his way onto the field one day, but it won’t happen this season.

Dream season

Brumbaugh establishes himself as something more than just another quarterback in the room. Whether he moves up the depth chart or not this season, he can set himself up to legitimately compete for the job down the road.
