Maryland football will play a two-game series with the University of Virginia in 2023 and 2024, the program announced Thursday.

The Terps will host the first game of the series, which is scheduled for Sept. 16, 2023, and visit Charlottesville on Sept. 14, 2024. These will be Week 3 matchups, and with the Big Ten expanding to a nine-game conference schedule in 2016, the games figure to end Maryland’s non-conference slate in those years.

Maryland has played Virginia 78 times, more than any other school. The Terps hold a 44-32-2 advantage in the series, and won the last two meetings in 2012 and 2013.

Virginia is currently a bottom-tier Power 5 team (the Cavaliers went 2-10 in 2016), but a lot can change in seven years. The rosters will look 100 percent different, and the coaches might not be the same either.

There are current 10-year-olds that will play in this series.
