The Associated Press released its all-time college football team rankings on Tuesday, and Maryland came in at No. 40. The Terps came in as the 10th-best Big Ten team of all-time.

Their methods were such:

To determine the all-time Top 25, the AP formula counted poll appearances (one point) to mark consistency, No. 1 rankings (two points) to acknowledge elite programs and gave a bonus for AP championships (10 points).

The top 25 has Ohio State holding down the all-time No. 1 spot. Nebraska, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Iowa all join the Buckeyes in the top 25, with Purdue and Minnesota also coming in ahead of the Terps at Nos. 36 and 37.

Columbia, William and Mary, Nevada and Bowling Green are tied for last in the all-time top 100.
