Maryland football's Will Likely named to Jim Thorpe award watch list

Good morning. Here's your Maryland Minute for Tuesday, July 12.

Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

We're deep into award watch list season, and Maryland cornerback Will Likely's name is now on a third list. After being named to the Bednarik and Nagurski award watch lists last week, he was named to the Jim Thorpe award watch list on Monday.

The Thorpe award is presented to the best defensive back in college football. He's one of four Big Ten defensive backs on the list, joining Michigan's Jourdan Lewis, Iowa's Desmond King and Nebraska's Nate Gerry. The list contains 39 players in all, and can be found here.
