The 2016 NFL Draft is this Thursday through Saturday, and it's all but assured that a few former Maryland football players will hear their names called.
NFL media's Mike Mayock, one of the top NFL Draft analysts around, released his top 100 prospect list on Monday, and three former Terps are on it. Defensive back Sean Davis is his highest-ranked Terp at No. 83, while defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson is No. 87 and edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue is No. 96.
That Jefferson is ranked above Ngakoue is a bit surprising, since most other places had placed Ngakoue higher. Davis's placing as the top Maryland player is no surprise, as his stock has been on the rise ever since the college football season ended.
For those fretting that former Maryland kicker Brad Craddock isn't on the list, not a single kicker was. Still, most mocks have him going undrafted.
Quarterbacks Carson Wentz (North Dakota State) and Jared Goff (Cal) are all but assured to go first and second on Thursday night. Mayock has Wentz as his No. 1 overall prospect and Goff at No. 10. Penn State's Christian Hackenberg rounds out the list at No. 100.
