The Maryland football team will cap its 2016 season by facing Boston College in the Quick Lane Bowl.
The game will take place at Ford Field in Detroit on Dec. 26, and will be televised on ESPN at 2:30.
Boston College finished the regular season with a win over Wake Forest to get to 6-6. The Terps earned their spot in the postseason by winning the games they needed to win. They took down Rutgers last weekend to clinch bowl eligibility.
The Quick Lane Bowl has a contract with the Big Ten, which made it one of a few likely landing spots for the Terps. Some speculated Maryland could be selected to the Heart of Dallas Bowl or the Pinstripe Bowl in New York.
Maryland last played in a bowl game in 2014, when the Terps were routed by Stanford in the Foster Farms Bowl. DJ Durkin coached Florida to a win in the Birmingham Bowl as an interim head coach two seasons ago. He’s a full-time head coach now, and he’ll look to finish his first year with a winning record.
