Reports that Mike Locksley is joining Lane Kiffin’s staff at Florida Atlantic are inaccurate, according to FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman.
Football Scoop reported Thursday that Kiffin was “planning on” hiring Locksley as his new offensive coordinator, and AL.com confirmed those reports.
Am told the reports of #Alabama's Mike Locksley heading to join #FAU staff are not accurate.

This most likely means Locksley is in play for the FAU gig, but has declined the position or not yet accepted it.
Locksley took a big pay cut to spend the last year as an offensive analyst for Alabama, where Kiffin served as offensive coordinator for the past few seasons. Before that, Locksley served as Maryland’s offensive coordinator from 2012-2015 after a failed head coaching stint at New Mexico. Locksley took over as Maryland’s interim head coach after Randy Edsall was fired in the middle of last season.
Locksley did not end up joining DJ Durkin’s staff at Maryland, though that came after about a month of speculation. Once Durkin hired Walt Bell as his new offensive coordinator, the writing was on the wall. Locksley was reportedly offered a position on Maryland’s staff, but turned it down.
Feldman has previously reported that Locksley is currently a candidate to replace Kiffin as Alabama’s offensive coordinator.
