Maryland football has suspended freshmen Lorenzo Harrison, D.J. Turner and Antoine Brooks indefinitely for violating the student-athlete code of conduct, the team announced before Saturday’s game against No. 6 Ohio State.
Harrison is the team’s second-leading rusher, with 633 yards in nine games. The true freshman from DeMatha is averaging 7.2 yards per carry. He is 57 yards away from LaMont Jordan’s freshman record of 689 yards on the ground.
Without Harrison, sophomore Ty Johnson and seniors Wes Brown and Kenneth Goins will probably see increased playing time against the Buckeyes.
Turner and Brooks have both seen action this season as well, though not nearly as much as Harrison. Turner, a wide receiver, has registered two catches for 19 yards. Brooks, a linebacker, has four tackles in four games.
All three will miss the Terps’ game against Ohio State, which Maryland was already expected to lose handily. The Buckeyes are favored by 28 points for the game, which kicks off at 3:30 on ESPN.
