Maryland offered Heath on January 30th, just two days before he officially visited College Park. On top of his commitment to Louisiana Tech, Heath held offers from mostly Group of 5 conference schools. Houston and Florida State were other notable schools interested in the guard, but Maryland ended up as the only power five school to extend an offer.
Listed at 6’4, 325 pounds, Heath brings some serious size to the interior of Maryland’s line and will have three season of eligibility starting this fall. The 247Sports Composite ranked Heath as the third-best junior college prospect out of New York and the seventh-best JuCo offensive guard in the 2019 class.
The All-NEFC Second Team lineman showed plenty of versatility in his JUCO season at ASA College. Getting snaps at both guard and tackle will allow Maryland’s new offensive line coach John Reagan to fit Heath in wherever depth is needed.
Heath is the first new addition of Maryland’s National Signing Day, but a couple others could still be coming soon.
