Three-star running back Isaiah Jacobs committed and signed with Maryland football Wednesday afternoon.

Jacobs is a top-500 player who ranks as the No. 35 running back and No. 6 player out of Oklahoma, per the 247Sports Composite. He chose the Terps over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and more.

Isaiah is also the younger brother of former Alabama and current Oakland Raider running back Josh Jacobs, who played under Mike Locksley as a member of the Crimson Tide.

Standing at 5’10, 190 pounds, Jacobs presents a similar frame to that of his older brother and is also an all-purpose back. He has the ability to break away from defenders, but also isn’t afraid to run straight up the middle. Jacobs also has displayed great ability catching the ball out of the backfield.

Maryland knew it had to look hard at the running back position with several of its rostered backs facing injury and/or nearing graduation. With Anthony McFarland Jr. and Javon Leake declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft, that need became even more apparent to the staff.

With Jacobs on board, Maryland’s running back room has certainly been replenished, as he joins Peny Boone — the nation’s No. 27 back — and Ebony Jackson — the No. 33 back as backfield options in the 2020 class.

The Terrapins did have a commitment from three-star athlete Kyjuan Herndon — who was slated to be the third running back addition — but he flipped to Colorado State earlier Wednesday afternoon.
